Single Signon!   All our Wordpress-based sites have been rolled up into a single WordPress-MU installation, which gives us "single signon"-- if you log in to one "site," e.g. Family Tree, you do not need to log in again to visit the 3rd grade site. We are thrilled to offer this quality of life upgrade to our current families and hope they will find the removal of multiple login requests to be a big improvement.

Class Web Sites   All grade levels have their own class web sites. The sites are powered by the mighty WordPress and feature teacher blogs, calendars, photo sharing, form downloads, and tons more. The entire project was designed and developed by our own Stace Felder, with Jen Burke contributing the cool header and some style sheet tweaks. Teachers will be handing out URLs to the class sites within the first week and at Back to School Night.

XServe Power!   We've migrated our sturdy but aging FreeBSD file server to a brand spankin' new Apple XServe, with oodles of storage thanks to another fantastic donation from parent Behruz Nassre -- a set of giant disk arrays.

Rackalicious   We converted our old wood shelving and aging tower server computers to a modern, steel 4-post rack enclosure. Thanks to Live Oak parent Behruz Nassre for donating a whole raftload of 1U servers.

Software   Live Oak has site licenses for Adobe Elements, Comic Life, iWork and Filemaker. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is our standard productivity suite, with OpenOffice our recommended alternative. We make extensive use of GarageBand, iMovie, Audacity and iStopMotion for multimedia projects like videos, songs and podcasting. First graders enjoy painting with the open source gem TuxPaint. And we have a new typing program, TypeToLearn 4, which is used in core keyboarding units in 4th and 6th grade.
