2009-2010 Preview

Live Oak's Athletics Program offers cross-country, volleyball, basketball, and futsal to students in fifth through eighth grades. All sports teams practice twice a week (though students may still participate if they are unable to make both practices). Students are placed on the team that best suits their skill level and no student is ever cut from a team. Besides skill development, we focus on sportsmanship, roles of a good teammate, leadership development, and positive social and group interactions.

After-school sports at Live Oak does require some parent help, mainly around the coordination of rides to and from away games. Parents will be notified at the beginning of each season about driving needs.

Sports can foster strong positive self-esteem, a supportive social network, and an array of other attributes that help students succeed in a variety of situations. We look forward to a continued high participation rate as well as an abundant amount of learning and development during our 2009-2010 after school sports program.
