Lightning Win Trio of League Titles

The Lightning capped off a historic winter sports season by claiming three league championships last week. It was the first time that Live Oak has won three basketball titles in the same season and continues a string of five straight seasons with at least one Live Oak hoops team claiming a league crown. Read all the finals results below.
The Live Oak varsity girls capped off a perfect 8-0 season with a 35-19 win in the finals against Burke's last Thursday. Ivy and Ailey led the way on offense as the team played strong defense throughout the game. Congratulations to the eighth grade girls (Ailey, Ella D, Ella S., Genevieve, Ivy, Magnolia, Nadine, Natalia, Sabina and Tula) and coaches Sydney and Katie on their amazing season. This group made so many memorable moments and will leave a long lasting impact on the Live Oak girls basketball program!

In the JV boys finals, Connell and Toby led the way on offense with many clutch baskets as the JV boys battled back from an early deficit to take control of the game down the stretch in their 52-43 championship win over The San Francisco School. The team showed a lot of camaraderie and resiliency as they rounded out their season with a perfect 8-0 record. Congratulations to the seventh grade boys (Ayan, Callum, Connell, Eddie, Enso, Jack, Julian, Kai, Keshav, Leo, Owen, Tavis, Toby and Trey) and coach Adrian on a fantastic season!

In the JV girls finals, Adella and Malia led the way on offense as the team worked hard on both ends of the court throughout their 28-19 title win over Synergy. Synergy was a formidable opponent but the JV girls pulled ahead down the stretch to secure the victory and conclude a perfect 8-0 season of their own. Congratulations to the seventh grade girls (Adella, Audrey, Charlotte, Malia, Maya, Nieve, Rose, Sasha and Shoshi) and coaches Sydney and Katie on an incredible season!
