Lightning Poised for Title Shots

Three of Live Oak’s four playoff basketball teams advanced to the SFAL finals this week. Read below for all the playoff results and the finals schedules.   
Magnolia scored 25 points and Ivy added 12 as the varsity girls advanced with a 50-28 win over KIPP Bayview on Tuesday. They play Burke's at 5:15pm at CAIS on Thursday afternoon for the title. 

Meanwhile, Malia scored eight points and Shoshi added six for the JV girls as they punched their ticket into the finals, defeating The San Francisco School 24-6 on Tuesday. They will play Synergy this Friday at 5:15pm at Gateway Gym for the title.

Also moving on were the seventh grade JV Boys Green, who showed resilience as they found themselves in a close game down the stretch against KIPP SF. Owen hit the go-ahead three pointer with less than 10 seconds as the JV boys advanced with a 38-36 win. They will take on SF School in the championship game at 4pm on Friday at Gateway Gym.

Rounding out the action were the varsity boys, who competed hard from start to finish in the semifinals, but KIPP SF pulled ahead down the stretch to secure the victory by a final score of 54-42. Eighth graders Bradyn, Cayden, Coda, Coleman, Elliot, Harry, Jayden, Justin, Leo, Logan, Nate, and Tristan had a fantastic season. They bounced back from a 0-2 start to the season and finished 4-2 as they earned their spot in the final four.
